He conducts and manages intelligence projects that support the Client’s strategic goals regarding the legal marketplace, competitors and client initiatives.
Mr. Passos is responsible for working with business units to conceptualize, design, and execute competitive and market intelligence studies to better understand the company’s position in the marketplace and to identify new product or service opportunities.
He provides data, information, intelligence and insight on targeted markets for marketing, sales, business development, project management, R&D and manufacturing to support strategic planning.
Also he provides input to Directors, VP´s, and CEO´s regarding vendor performance, business unit objective setting and research needs, and feedback regarding functional supervision of analysts.
Alfredo Passos is the author of “Inteligência Competitiva – Como Fazer IC Acontecer na Sua Empresa”, “E a Concorrência…não Levou!” e “Inteligência Competitiva para Pequenas e Médias Empresas”, published by LCTE Editora.
Mr. Passos is also Competitive Intelligence Professor (ESPM), and has presented many seminars in Brazil. He is also a frequent speaker at industry and professional associations, including ESPM, American Chamber of Commerce, Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals, International Business Communications, Internews Seminários e Eventos, FGV and PUCRS.
Passos is a pioneer and recognized thought leader in the field of competitive intelligence in Brazil. He is member of The Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals – SCIP and International Association for Intelligence Education (IAFIE).

He is the first professional in Latin America to receive the SCIP Catalyst Award.
Passos has the skills at the core of competitive intelligence: the ability to collect intelligence from human sources (internal or external), the ability to synthesize (rather than just analyze), and the ability to derive implications, and identify the appropriate actions for the company´s client.
Prior to his own firm, Knowledge Management Company, Mr. Passos was with EDS Latin America and Saint-Gobain,the world leader in the habitat and construction markets, designs, manufactures and distributes building materials.
He has background to include previous supervisory responsibility and international experience in Latin America, broad knowledge and experience with the information technology used for searching, delivering and sharing of information and intelligence as well as building and maintaining competitor, and technology landscapes.
Mr. Passos is familiarity with major data collection and analysis techniques, including ability to define business questions, generate hypotheses, design research approaches and instruments, interview, and perform secondary research.
He is highest commitment to undertaking CI in accordance with applicable laws and a corporate code of conduct, and strong relationship management and influencing skills and comfort working with cross-functional teams.
Also he has excellent oral and written communication skills, fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese, besides the ability to travel domestically and internationally.
Mr. Passos holds a Master and bachelor’s degree in Business and Marketing.
